I gave my cat a very small amount of Evo and within an hour she was vomiting and straining to use the litterbox. After several hours of the same, we took her to the vet. She underwent emergency surgery because it was suspected that she had swallowed something that didn’t show up on the x-ray. Nothing was found, so it must have been the Evo. Many $$$$ later, I have learned to only give my cat a few pieces to start with if I give her a new food. Use Evo with caution!

Innova pet foods, the maker of Evo, have been found to test positive for Acetaminophen (Non aspirin pain reliever) which is —-TOXIC TO CATS —-. This information is according to many online sources. To read more about Acetaminophen contamination try this search on Google: innova+acetaminophen.
We were very disappointed when we came across this information as this cat food costs a lot of money and yet was not safe for our cats. We had fed several bags of Evo to our cats so we contacted the folks at Innova for some reassurance but there was no response.
We have since switched to Halo Cat Food. All ingredients in Halo are from the USA and our cats love it.

I don’t mean to imply by my one star rating that it isn’t a great product. I just wanted to point out that it’s not for every cat. One of my cats did fine on this food, and the other had very bad diarrhea for over a week until I switched to another food. My vet said that this was not uncommon and that, like people, all digestive tracts are made differently. If your cat has a problem on this food for more than a couple of days, it’s probably best try another.

I’ve been feeding my cats EVO for about three years. Before that I was changing food about once a year. I have three cats and my older cat is a picky eater. When I fed her this food she immediately liked it better than any other food I’ve given her. She also had a LOT more energy. It was amazing! I couldn’t believe it. She started running around the house, chasing the little fur mousies and batting them around. My other cats like it and do well on it too. This food is 50% protein so beware of the warnings to consult a vet if your cat has kidney problems.

I have 2 cats that I slowly introduced Evo to. One cat does fine with increasing percentages of Evo, while the other cat, even with small amounts of Evo, had terrible diarrhea, flatulence, and she started showing her 3rd eyelids. So I’ve slowly switched her back to greater concentrations of her original food, and her intestinal problems are resolving along with the appearance of her 3rd eyelids. Weird. Has this happened to anyone else?
